A sandcastle festival. A crowded public beach. And a dead fashionista in the winning sculpture.

On San Malvino, the annual sandcastle festival is the best place to unwind and enjoy a fun beach day with family and friends. Everyone expects cheap beer, sunburns, towering sand art, and nothing more dangerous than a stray volleyball. But the festivities come to a screeching halt when the passersby find a body of a young woman buried inside one of the castles.

With hundreds of vacationers wandering the shore, the crime scene is instantly trampled by a sea of sandy flip-flops. Worse, no one knows who the victim is. No ID.

No missing persons report. And no obvious reason why a stranger would be entombed in the middle of the island's biggest event. The festive beach atmosphere disappears when Mendoza tapes off the crime scene and tries to interview everyone on the beach.
