A sponsor is found frozen in place inside Everhollow’s ice garden display. The town calls it an accident. Clara calls it staged.

After last Christmas, Clara Wynn is done being part of Everhollow’s favorite pastime: blaming the nearest woman and moving on. She just wants to run Everhollow Remedies, sell calming blends, and survive winter without another scandal. Then the Ice Lantern Festival opens… and a man ends the night as part of the centerpiece.

Everyone sees ice and assumes the answer is cold. Clara sees something else: a melt line that doesn’t fit, a sharp botanical “clean” scent that shouldn’t be there, and a festival machine working overtime to keep the story neat. With her blunt best friend Mags and Detective Ben Harker trying to hold the line, Clara digs into a suspect list full of people with access and motive: a rival sponsor, a frantic director, an assistant who knows too much, and a council member who controls the money.
