Amateur sleuth Melissa Beckett thought sprucing up her former cupcake shop would help her figure out what to do with the building, but after peeling up a piece of hideous flooring, she makes a discovery that will take her down a dangerous path. It's a wedding ring that belongs to Joy Wilkin, a woman who is anything but joyful. When Missy returns the ring, she finds the older woman hopping mad because there’s a possum living under her porch and Joy has vowed to have it exterminated. Horrified, Missy volunteers to take care of the animal herself, and learns something surprising from Joy’s neighbor. The possum had been taken care of by Joy's husband, Stan, since it was a baby.
